On-Line Community Planning Survey
Thank you for participating in this survey, which will help with the identification of issues to be addressed as Santa Fe County begins the General Plan update process and considers alternative land use goals, policies and implementation strategies.  All information provided for this survey will be confidential and is provided for the sole use by the County for the Sustainable Growth Plan.

What is the Sustainable Growth Plan?

Santa Fe County is in the process of updating the County’s General Plan, adopted in 1999, with a Sustainable Growth Plan. The Sustainable Growth Plan is a guide to on-going growth and development for public and private decision-makers.  The Plan identifies goals for the County, establishes policies to be used in making decisions, identifies what development types are appropriate for the County, and prioritizes implementation strategies.  The Plan process will build on previous and on-going planning efforts in the County and will include many opportunities for public participation.  This survey is an important first step in learning about the County’s vision, priorities and preferences for future growth.

Why Plan?

The purpose of planning is to protect and enhance the County’s quality of life.  Through the planning process, County residents, business owners and community organizations can help shape the County’s land use pattern and establish preferred levels of service.  A well-planned community provides for compatible land uses, efficient transportation networks, fiscal health and resource protection.

What topics will the Plan address?

The Plan will address land uses, economic development, housing, public facilities and services, transportation, community design, natural resources, historic and cultural resources, and intergovernmental cooperation, in addition to other key issues that are identified during the planning process.
